Research:Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

I decided to analyse Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana because it is a very well known and popular song, I felt like it was a perfect video to analyse and because of the songs huge success, the video would be filmed and produced very well. The video is also hugely successful as I exspected and so I thought it would have some good audience pleasures and conventions that would be good to include in my music video.

Smells like teen spirit was the first single of the bands second album 'Nevermind', which went to the number one album at the start of 1992 because of smells like teen spirit, it is said that this is what launched alternative rock music into the mainstream. The smells like teen spirit video has over 100 million views on YouTube.com, the song topped the 1991 Village voice "Pazz and Jop" and melody maker year-end polls and reached number two on rolling stone's list of best singles of the year. The single reached number six on the billboard singles chart the same week that Nevermind reached number one on the albums chart. Teen Spirit hit number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and has been certified platinum.
